Violin Playing
I enjoy playing the violin on a regular basis. My Father first gave me lessons at the age of five or so on a 1/4
size violin and I've been playing ever since. My Father, David, was a viola player in the Minnesota Orchestra. Before
his professional career he took lessons from some members of the Chicago Symphony. His Father, Earl Ulfeng, also played
violin and was a violin maker of regard. My Dad retired in 2005 after playing for 38 years. I remember when Orchestra Hall in Minneapolis, Minnesota
was completed in 1971 and I still possess a ticket to the very first rehearsal back then. I was a young boy back then and
remember distinctly how awestruck I was at the new hall. It had large accoustical blocks in the ceiling which were impressive
to me at the time. here's a link explaining some of the
acoustics.
I come from a musical family; My mother played the violin,
and each of my four sisters played stringed instruments as well.

My Son Erik and Father David Ulfeng at Orchestra Hall, Minneapolis (2003), this was one of his last concerts at Orchestra Hall.
Update: My father David Ulfeng (Pictured Above) Passed away on March 17, 2009 at 73. He will be sorely Missed.
